THE CREATORS
Nals and Tess are a creative, comedic film making duo that work with high energy, high stakes, grounded characters. They've made a name for themselves in all story forms, theatre, film and television. The duo teams up to create, produce, and act in their projects with Nalini Sharma writing and Tessa VonderHaar directing.
Their web series, Birdie and Blanche, was a finalist in the Sundance YouTube New Voices Lab 2016 and is currently being developed as a feature. Their most recent short film Garbage was an official selection at the HBO Women in Comedy Festival 2019 and was officially selected to stream on Amazon’s All Voice Film Festival 2019. They are currently developing their first feature film together. Their goal is to create effective entertaining content that makes their audience laugh and moves them emotionally. Before film making, they were audience favorites for years at comedy theaters in Los Angeles and in their nation wide sketch comedy tours.
Both Nalini and Tessa have found that humor has been a very practical way in our daily lives to cope and make sense of the odd hilarious nature of it all. In their films, they ask their audience and supporters are to explore complex themes and go on a journey to find the answers. Leaving audiences wondering and wanting more.
Nals and Tess' goal is to change under-representation in mainstreaming story-tellling, no longer affirming the truth that discussion, healing, and inclusion is reserved soley for a privilged race, sex, or finacial status-- using our world’s greatest teacher, guide, and healer- Film and Television.
